Abstract:
The concept of culture is wide in scope. Generally, it indicates the various forms of mental expression of human beings. Based on this definition, thoughts, moral, religion, art, science, education are all forms of culture. It also includes activities of politics and economics. On the whole structure of culture, thoughts, moral, religion, art, science and education are the main elements while politics and economics are forms of expression of the former elements. Activities of culture denote social activities. An American writer, Colyd Kluckohn said “Culture is the special attainment of social activities of human beings. This attainment includes all forms of expression.” He further said “The nucleus of culture consists of two parts, i.e. tradition and thoughts.” Taking a review on the contribution of Chinese Culture towards a multi-racial society of ours, we have to examine the activities of the Chinese Culture. Culture is an abstract term but it is a reflection of social activities and way of life of the people. It consists of special characteristics of human race. If we do not examine culture from this understanding,we will not be able to ascertain the contribution of culture towards our society. My talk will try to examine the cultural activities of Chinese in our State in its background, characteristics, development, contribution and its dilemma and then to suggest proposals for its development.
