Abstract:
Inventory surveys are a pre-requisite for reserve and park management plans. At the suggestion of Mr. K.R.S. Proud of the National Parks and Wildlife Section, Forest Department, Sarawak we observed and trapped bats in Bako National Park and Samunsam Wildlife Sanctuary during a visit to Sarawak in July 1979. Bats had previously been studied at Bako by Start (1972). Our observations are not comprehensive but do supplement those of Start, and provide the first records for Samunsam, which was declared a Wildlife Sanctuary early in 1979.
