Abstract:
Datin Julia Chong, M.A., F.T.C.L, LT.C.L, LR.S.M., T.Dip., S.K.N, J.B.K. The Sarawak Museum lost an active Honarary Curator, the musical world lost an active and competent performer, teacher, conductor and promoter with the passing of Datin Julia Chong on 4 November 2001. Julia Wu was born in Penang; she attended the Methodist Girls’ School. She was trained as a teacher in Singapore, where she married Dr. (later Professor Datuk) Chong Chun Hian in 1952. This union was blessed by three daughters. A gifted musician from an early age, Julia passed her L.R.S.M. Diploma in Performance in 1951. Later, she received an advanced musical education as she accompanied her husband
