SARAWAK MUSEUM DEPARTMENT RECEIVES LINGGA-BANTING HERITAGE TREASURES FROM HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR OF SARAWAK KUCHING:
The Sarawak Museum Department (SMD) has temporarily received several personal heritage treasures from His Excellency the Governor of Sarawak, Tun Pehin Sri Dr. Haji Wan Junaidi bin Tuanku Jaafar, for documentation and replication purposes as part of efforts to preserve Sarawak's historical heritage. His Excellency was represented by YBhg. Dato Sri Haji Syed Hamzah bin Syed Paie, Senior Private Secretary to the Governor of Sarawak. The treasures were received by Mdm Yasmin Khalid Nicholls, Deputy Director of the Sarawak Museum, accompanied by Dr. Awangku Shahrir Naqiuddin bin Awg. Suhaili, Head of the Collection Management Division, along with officers and staff from the Division. Among the collections handed over were the Benyahya Sarawak Family Lineage Manuscript, the Lingga-Banting Government Code Manuscript, Lingga-Banting Historical and Lineage Documents, the Banting Heritage Sword, as well as three heritage spears. This collaboration between the Astana Negeri Sarawak and the Sarawak Museum Department reflects an ongoing commitment to preserving and elevating Sarawak's historical treasures and heritage for the benefit of future generations.
