Wednesday, 8 May 2024 - The Sarawak Museum Department's Contingent Flag Presentation Ceremony for International Museum Day 2024 was completed by the Minister of Tourism, Creative Industries, and Performing Arts Sarawak, YB Dato Sri Haji Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah and took place at the State Legislative Assembly Building.

The National International Museum Day Festival 2024 will be held in Penang from 12 May to 22 May 2024. The theme of this year's celebration is 'Museum, Education and Research'.

Penang State Museum Board is hosting the 2024 National Level HMA Celebration in this edition. Programs such as exhibitions, sports tournaments, seminars, workshops, conferences, cultural performances and more have been planned to fuel this celebration. JMS sent a contingent of 35 people to participate in this event.

In addition, the Sarawak Museum Department will participate in an exhibition at Dewan Sri Penang with the theme "SARAWAKIAN PEOPLE: COME LEARN WITH US", which features ethnology, zoology, Borneo manuscripts, and archeology related photographs in the possession of the Sarawak Museum Department.

Also present were the Deputy Minister of Tourism, YB Datuk Sebastian Ting Chiew Yew, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Tourism, Creative Industries and Performing Arts Sarawak, Datu Sherrina binti Hussaini, and the Director of the Sarawak Museum Department, Mrs. Nancy Hj Jolhi. At the ceremony, Chef De Mission Contingent, Mr. Rhemy Romeo Jamal, received the flag from YB Dato Seri Haji Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah.
